Ask The Founder: John’s 360º Coatings Q & A

We asked our followers to submit questions for John’s 360º Coatings founder, John Mosley. John has answered the top questions to share a little more about John’s 360º Coatings products, uses, and how the Avenger came to be.

Q: What is the difference between ceramic coatings and a good wax?

A: I know that ceramic coating is the future. Technology has evolved to offer a greater alternative to wax that is more cost-effective and efficient. You can spend hours applying a proper wax coating every couple of months, but you still won’t get the results and protection of a ceramic coating that you only have to apply once every couple of years. Save yourself time and money and go with a ceramic coating.

Q: How did you come up with the Avenger?

A: I have a long history in body shop work, and I was unsatisfied with just about every product out there for coating and protecting vehicles and aircraft. Nothing was strong enough to truly protect the surface while still providing extreme shine and clarity.

So I found chemists experienced in polymers, resins, and ceramics. Together we worked to formulate a superior coating and went through relentless testing to develop the Avenger.

Q: How many cars does one Avenger kit cover?

A: We include enough product in one Avenger kit to cover 3 regular sedans or 2 full-sized pickups. If you’re only coating one vehicle, just be sure to mix smaller, equal amounts of the two-part coating at a time. Then always remember to clean out the applicator bottle after each use.

Q: Can I apply the ceramic coating myself?

A: Yes! We made this product so anyone can apply the Avenger kit themselves. Of course, a helping hand or two never hurts, as long as you follow the detailed instructions that come in the kit and refer to our application instructions page.

If you have any questions, give me a call! I include my personal business card in each kit so you can ask me any questions along the way.

Q: Do your products work on motorcycles?

A: Our products work on a wide variety of vehicles. Cars, boats, planes, and motorcycles, of course — but also ATVs, RVs, trailers, fish houses, airstreams and more. If you’ve got a question about how our products can work for you, ask us here.

Q: What product should I start with if I’m not a professional

A: If you’re looking for something that is incredibly user-friendly and foolproof, try Super Blue Speed Coat spray ceramic coating or Mint Ceramic Waterless Carwash. These two products are multi-use and safe to use on all vehicles.

We appreciate your interest in our products and always happy to answer any questions you have before buying, while applying, and while maintaining. Reach out to us via our contact page, social media, or send us an email to info@johns360coatings.com

Labor of Love: Julie Vessigault’s Approach to Aircraft Detailing

Meet Julie

If you’re a fan of warbirds, chances are you’ve seen the work of Julie Vessigault. She’s a professional aircraft detailer who’s been in the industry for many years. She has specialized in warbirds since 2015 when she joined the team at Warbird Adventures in Kissimmee, Florida.

She takes a careful and unique approach to each bird she is working on. She cocktails a variety of products into what she calls a detailing “recipe” — each perfectly suited for the plane in front of her. “There’s an artistic element to what I do,” Julie says when asked about how she treats each plane. “Few planes are treated the exact same.”

Julie’s Introduction to John’s 360º Coatings

Julie was introduced to John’s 360º Coatings when Steve Gustafson with Aeroshell, introduced her to them and asked her to use the products on his planes. As she became familiar with the products, she also began using The Avenger two-part ceramic coating to seal and protect the work she’d done and preserve the aircraft’s surface.

The Perfect Recipe

John’s 360º Coatings Metal XDecon Spray, and Speed Coat are a go-to system for Julie. She finds herself reaching for them again and again.

“Metal X just melts the exhaust right off warbirds,” says Julie. This product has saved her time and a lot of elbow grease! She carefully vets every product she uses because she understands the value and history of the aircrafts she care for. She’s pleased to say she’s only had great experiences with John’s products.

She recommends people looking to learn her craft start out with cars and gradually work their way up to larger aviation projects. Patience and attention to detail is what sets her work apart from the rest!

Why Traditional Car Wax Just Doesn’t Cut It

It’s time to throw out your car wax. We’ve had it ingrained in us by parents, car-buffs, body shops and even Mr. Miyagi — to care for your car is to spend hours every couple months waxing it.Technology has evolved to offer a much better alternative to regular waxing, and it won’t break your back or the bank.

Wax is outdated and ineffective for many vehicles

If you wax your car yourself, you probably spend two or more hours prepping and waxing it every couple months. It’s taxing on the body and your time! If you don’t wax your vehicle yourself you’re paying anywhere from $80-$150 every couple months for a professional to do it. But is it worth it? Waxes are infamous for clouding, wearing away and even reacting to paint jobs — ruining incredible craftsmanship and artistry.

Nano-ceramic coatings are the future

A properly applied nano-ceramic coating will protect your vehicle from harsh elements and chemicals for upwards of two years. John’s 360° Coatings Avenger Kit is a professional grade two-part ceramic coating that you can apply yourself! With one kit, you’ll have enough product to cover up to three sedans or two full size pickups — for about the same price as waxing one vehicle. Apply one time and enjoy the protective glass-like finish for up to two years, or longer if you maintain it with Speed Coat. Cleanup can be as easy as rinsing with a hose and wiping your car down with a microfiber cloth.

John’s 360º Coatings

On all fronts, time, protection and overall cost — The Avenger beats traditional wax. The best part? This isn’t just for cars. The Avenger was originally formulated to protect aircraft and is used to preserve aviation history by reducing the frequency of polishing. It can also be used on boats, ATVs, motorcycles and more. You’ll enjoy it so much that you just might find yourself ceramic coating your kid’s bicycle or your shower stall.

UV Protection for Your Vehicles

The sun can be scorching this time of year. You know you need to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun, but did you know you should be protecting your vehicle too? In the same way UV rays penetrate our skin and cause damage, they can also penetrate the surface of our vehicle’s paint, interior, trim and tires to cause fading, discoloration and dullness.

John’s 360º Coating’s founder, John Mosley, understands the investments you make in your car, aircraft, boat or other vehicle — and he makes sure his products stand up against the elements. Here are three products that provide the ultimate UV protection for your vehicle.

This two-part activated ceramic coating protects your vehicle’s paint and trim from oil, harsh chemicals, water spots, rocks, bugs and UV rays. Apply to any automotive, marine or aircraft vehicle.

A multi-use ceramic spray coating that gives a UV protected, glossy and hydrophobic finish to paint, metal, glass and plastic surfaces. It makes for quick clean-up after a cruise in your car, boat or plane.

Nothing says “sun damage” like faded grey tires. Our tire gel leaves a rich, black finish that protects your tires from the sun. A key element to achieving that lux look in your detailing.

Bottom line, your investments deserve protection from the elements so you can enjoy them worry free. So don’t forget about harmful sun damage and ensure your detailing products offer UV protection like John’s 360º Coatings.

Building Pride of Ownership: A Lesson For Everyone

For some people, the thought of sinking time and money into a project vehicle seems unnecessary when you could just buy a new one for the same price and less time. But there are priceless lessons that we learn when we get our hands dirty, start solving problems and become as much a part of the vehicle as the engine itself.

22 years ago, John’s 360º Coatings founder, John Mosley bought a 1964 Chevy C10 as his son Daniel’s first vehicle. “It was a fairly basic and well used work truck with a six cylinder 3 speed on the column,” said John.

John and Daniel worked on the truck together through the first restoration. This included new three-stage red paint and an engine upgrade to a 350 with an automatic transmission. Daniel has never quit working on his truck. With the help of friends and family and a lot of hard work, his C10 has been completely transformed — almost every piece of sheet metal on the truck has been replaced and upgraded. He also swapped in a big block engine pushing almost 600 horsepower!

“I expect this truck will never leave this family. There have been many who think it’s a waste of money having invested the price of a new vehicle in one this old. I, on the other hand, think it was a good investment in building pride of ownership — and automotive, mechanical and body knowledge,” said John.

This truck and the dreams Daniel had for it consumed a lot of his time over the years. John is proud that Daniel spent his teenage years working on his truck rather than getting into trouble like a lot of teens tend to do with too much time on their hands. That being said, a truck with this much horsepower did help Daniel make a name for himself among the local police officers in Clinton, Mississippi. J  John said, now a days, it is still a good source of conversation with some of the older Clinton officers!

Of course John and Daniel wanted to protect this family-made masterpiece with The Avenger two-part ceramic coating to preserve the beautiful work they have done over the years!

Preserving Aviation History

Traditionally, maintaining historical aircrafts has meant spending thousands of dollars in polish and even more man hours physically polishing each aircraft every 6 months to a year. The problem with that isn’t just the cost or investment of time—it’s the fact that each time a plane is polished, the historic aircraft is being deteriorated.

Polishing removes weathered metal leaving behind a shiny polished look. At the cost of the integrity of pieces of aviation history. This is a problem Scott Glover, owner of Mid America Flight Museum, knows all too well.

Mid America Flight Museum is unique in the fact that their historic planes are flown on a regular basis. This means the aircrafts at the museum require a lot of body care and maintenance. Scott has even “worn out” planes because of polishing and regular, necessary care. Scott’s business was changed when he met John Mosely and was introduced to John’s 360º Coatings.

With John’s 360º Coatings Avenger 2-Part ceramic coating, rather than polishing on a regular basis, breaking down the surface of the plane, aircrafts only need to be polished ONCE before applying the product. The Avenger physically BONDS with the surface of the aircraft, unlike other products that just sit on top of it. This means it doesn’t wear or rub off like other sealants. It becomes part of the plane, and leaves the finish glossy, sleek and protected from the elements for years.

“John’s products are preserving aviation history. Planes that would normally be destroyed, will be around for generations to fly— thanks to John’s products. There really is nothing like it on the market. It is miraculous. Nothing compares.”— Scott Glover, Owner of MAFM

Scott knows first-hand how revolutionary John’s 360º Coatings truly are and is starting to use them on every plane at the museum. Switching to John’s products means more visitors, more flights, less man hours and less maintenance. An absolutely priceless return on investment.

Behind The Avenger: A John’s 360º Coatings Genesis Story

Our Avenger 2-part activated ceramic coating physically bonds to any surface, lasts longer than any other coating on the market, is premium quality and affordable. How did we get here?

John Mosley, has been in the business of paint and body work his entire life. He grew up doing body work and over time he had used just about every detailing product on the market. Waxes yellowed, sealants wore away, and water, dirt, oil and sun would eventually destroy his restoration and paint work.

Perfection is the root of this story. John couldn’t find the perfect products for the work he was doing. He recognized the gap in the market, especially for high-polished aircrafts or airstream trailers, and set out to create the absolute best ceramic coating that would protect and preserve the vehicles it would be applied to.

John worked with a team of chemists that used nanotechnology to create a 2-part activated ceramic coating that could be used to protect any vehicle — automotive, marine, or aircraft. The Avenger.

The key difference? The Avenger has to be activated. When you mix both parts, a chemical reaction occurs that produces a ceramic coating unlike any other.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Prep and clean your cars, boats, or planes.
  2. Apply The Avenger.
  3. Buff it off with a microfiber cloth.

That’s it. Prep, apply and buff off the excess. The product does the rest of the leg work as it cures and bonds to the surface of your vehicle — becoming a part of the finish, not just sitting on top of it. Once cured, your car, boat or plane will be shiny, glossy and, most importantly, protected from harsh elements, chemicals and UV rays — for years.

“After I applied The Avenger to my vehicle, when it got dirty all I had to do was hose it down or quickly wipe it down with a rag. Nothing sticks to it. It’s like touching glass!”
Mike M, Avenger customer

The Avenger is the top performing 2-part activated ceramic coating, and a revolutionary first in the world or aerospace protection.

“There is just nothing like it out there. Aviators and plane detailers are rejoicing for this time saving, money saving and aircraft saving product!”
Scott G, Owner of Mid America Flight Museum

John had such positive feedback and satisfaction with The Avenger, that he went on to create an entire line of professional detailing products that compliment and enhance the protection of The Avenger.

Changing the Game: T6 Cleans Up and Stays Protected With John’s 360º Coatings

Aviator, William Otto, grew up in general aviation. Radial engines and tail wheels have always been a part of his life. After owning two Boeing Stearman biplanes, he stepped into the T6 game. Without John’s 360º Coatings, clean up after a longer flight would be messy, and extensive.

Otto was introduced to founder, John Mosley at Oshkosh in 2016. After trusting John with the task of painting his North American T-6G, it was clear to Otto that John’s work and his products were on a level of excellence unlike any other.

So when he got his plane back, Otto applied John’s 360º Coatings Avenger 2-Part Ceramic Coating when he got his plane back, and has only needed to use Speed Coat to maintain it over the past year. Now Otto can look forward to long flights without dreading the cleanup, which takes less than half the time it used to take.

“I would highly recommend any of the products that John produces, but the best combination is to apply the Avenger 2-Part ceramic coating and use Speed Coat to maintain it.” — William Otto

Otto now uses John’s 360º Coatings on all of the airplanes he flies. From a Dassault Falcon 900, a 600 Stearman to Warbirds and the polished 1957 Cessna 180 that his Grandfather purchased new from the factory. He trusts in John’s 360º Coatings to protect and preserve the aircrafts he cares for.

The American Dream: Protected by John’s 360° Coatings

When you hear the words “American Dream” feelings of freedom, valor, strength and pride come to mind. That’s exactly what P-40 Warhawk, American Dream, of Warbird Adventures in Kissimmee, FL stands for.

This outstanding aircraft was crashed, recovered, restored, and converted to a dual control 2-place airplane. It is the only dual-controlled P-40 commercially available for flight. Naturally this aircraft gets a lot of air time, which means quality detailing and care are required to keep this restored masterpiece in great shape.

Professional detailer, Julie Vessigault, cares for the American Dream. Vessigault has been detailing aircraft since 2012 and she regularly uses John’s 360° Coatings products. She uses Metal X and Decon Spray to prep the aircraft and follows up with Speed Coat ceramic spray sealant to shield the surface of the aircraft from the elements. She likes how easily the products clean up and protect the aircrafts she works on.
